Well done fellas. We are the Summer Men's League Champions. This is our second year in the summer league, and while we came up short in our first year, placing 2nd, we came through this year to win.

We overcame a 19-2 deficit in the quarter final game to win 23-22, against a team that was determined to delay the game until the clock ran out. Then, we stomped all over the opponent in the championship game, winning 30-13.

MVP of the night was clearly Steve Schilsky, who took the mound and pitched us out of a jam. Its a constant reminder that in a hitters league like this, you can't walk people, yet pitching is not as easy as it looks. Beyond that, it appears that any pitch that he saw was cranked over the fence. In fact, our entire team was longball craZy.

Some fun stats for the year...

Runs scored: 227; Runs allowed: 123

For each runner that got on base, there was an 81% chance you would score.

We hit 40 HRS (10 inside the park by Isenberg)

Team BA: .604

Team OB%: .635

Team had 15 SAC flys, 42 walks, and 21 bases on errors

Offensive Co-MVPs of the year: Isenberg and Schilsky

Fall League schedules will be posted when they become available. This is our third season in the fall league, and the competition should be a different test for us. See you in a few weeks fellas.

So far it has been a great start to the season. 3-0, all with impressive wins. Let's keep up the good work. In all honesty, we could still be playing a lot better, which is kind of scary when compared to the competition we have seen so far.

Summer is Here...

Start to clear your Thursday night schedules fellas.

Practice will start in April.

Games start in early May.

Weight loss participants must weigh in prior to first game, up to one week prior to first pitch max. Must be in the presence of another weight loss bet member to qualify, otherwise weigh in is prior to the game at Ben Marsh's house.

We are staying in the "C" league, so let's focus on playing well and winning the entire thing.

A few notes on the season:

1) We were allowed to stay in the "C" League.

2) Practice will begin in April. Be on the lookout for an email. Practice will be Thursday nights, just like the league. Clear your schedules now.

3) Make sure to be at practices once they are announced. We may have some shake ups in the field this year, and if you aren't there to defend your spot, we'll have to use our best judgement without you.

What is at 'Steak'?

Winner receives 18 holes with a cart, weekend greens fees, lunch and cocktails included.

Max burn per person = $30

(Ben - this means the most you can lose is $30, but you still have to pay for yourself that day)



What else is at 'Steak'?

Pride. Why? Because if you come in dead last, you are extra fucked. You will be paying for the winners lunch ($20), use pink golf balls, and wear a pink golf hat. You may also have to play in the foursome behind if we only have 5.



How is the winner calculated?

Whoever loses the highest % of their body weight wins. (Don't worry Ben, I'll do the math for you)

Example: If Marty loses 21.8 pounds (10%), and Gohmann loses 25 pounds (10.4%), Gohmann wins.

Final weigh in will be before the first game at Martin's house.



Ok gentlemen, go get fit so we can win a championship next year.

2007... A Year In Review.

Well guys........it was a great year. A HUGE improvement from 2006. We played in the Championship Game for the summer "C" league, and we made it to the final four for the fall "mixed" league. We should all be proud of ourselves.

Did we improve......absolutely.
Can we improve.......absolutely.
Will we improve......absolutely.

We're working with Buffalo Grove to see if they will let us play in the "C" league next year, or if we'll have to play in the "B" league, which is a great problem to have. We must be doing something right. (feel free to post your opinion on the matter......your opinion matters!!!)

So buckle up for next year........Springtime will mean practice and getting some of our fundamentals in place to make sure that whatever league we play in, we'll win the whole motherfucking thing.
